Day 2- Hunting-Petting-Eating Big Game

We spent the the day getting to know our new friend, Colin Webster and his wife, Sylvia. Colin is a part of our story in South Africa. They wanted to show us around a bit so we did some informal, rolling interviews on the way to a game park outside of Jo’burg. I suppose this is the South African

equivalent of a zoo. We are learning the South Africans are slightly more adventurous than we tend to be.

After the game park we tooled around the Gauteng countryside and stopped for a snack at a little place called Maggie’s Farm. Great homemade ginger beer and chicken pie.

We capped off the day with dinner at a place appropriately named, Carnivore. Sort of Brazilian-style, lots of meat brought to your table on big skewers. In South Africa, the meat is Zebra, Wart Hog, Impala, Kudu and Elan. When in Rome eh?

It's fun to say you've eaten Zebra. Actually eating Zebra is kind of the opposite.

I’m beat. I’ll leave you with some random shots of the day.

I’m so excited for you! This looks to be an amazing adventure and I’m stoked to see the finished product. Don’t eat any more zebras though, okay? Poor zebras.

I can’t figure out if Geoff looks more like Steve Irwin or Stephen Hawking in that picture with the cubs… Either way we are all insanely jealous here around the office of you guys and your trip. Can’t wait to see the footage.

I hope Keith has managed to not scare Geoff in his sleep with night terrors. Have fun guys, we miss you around here.

Yeah, yeah, you’re in South Africa, yadda yadda yadda. There’s a plastic baby here that needs mutilating and there hasn’t been one single piece of garbage next to my trash can in a week. Think about THAT.

Jk. Glad you boys are safe and riding around on/eating wild animals. Bring me back a pygmy.
